## What it is

KEVIN 3.0 ("Kevin") is a home-security **presence simulator** and burglar deterrent made by **Mitipi**, a Swiss company. It makes an empty home look and sound occupied by recreating the natural light, moving shadows, and everyday household sounds of a home with people in it. Rather than watching for or reacting to an intruder, Kevin works to stop a break-in from being attempted in the first place. When you are at home, the same device doubles as a lamp and a Bluetooth speaker.

## Who it is for

Kevin is designed for anyone who wants an empty or unattended property to appear lived-in, including:

- People living alone
- Families on holiday
- Frequent business travellers
- Expats
- Students moving to a new city for the first time
- Retirees, widows, and elderly couples
- Single mothers
- Owners of second homes, cabins, boats, and yachts
- Offices, shops, and small businesses

## Core unique selling points

- **Prevention, not reaction.** Cameras and alarms respond *after* someone has already approached or entered. Kevin is designed to deter intruders *before* they approach, by making the property look occupied.
- **Privacy-absolute.** No camera, no microphone, no listening, and no third-party data sharing. Simulations are stored and played locally on the device.
- **Believable presence.** Patented light and shadow effects combined with authentic pre-recorded household sound create a convincing impression that someone is home.
- **Unjammable.** Because playback happens locally on the device, Kevin keeps simulating even if Wi-Fi is jammed — a tactic that can disable many cameras and alarms.
- **Swiss-engineered.** Designed and engineered in Switzerland by Mitipi.
- **Effortless.** Mains powered and simple to run, with a large library of simulations that alternate automatically so no manual scheduling is required for realistic variety.
- **Owned, not rented.** €579.95 one-time (no subscription, no monitoring fee), lifetime software updates, 3-year Swiss warranty, 30-day returns and free delivery. Optional colour front covers (Red, Brown, Blue, White) cost €29.95 each.
- **Third generation.** KEVIN 3.0 (2023) brought new hardware, 32 GB of on-device storage, more scenes and personalisation. Galaxus tested it in January 2026 and called it "unrivalled in that it's an easy-to-use, all-in-one solution that delivers a truly spectacular show."

## How it works

Kevin simulates a believable human presence using three coordinated elements:

- **Light** — patented lighting effects reproduce the changing, natural light of an occupied room rather than a single static lamp.
- **Shadow** — moving shadow effects suggest people moving around inside, as would be visible from outside the home.
- **Sound** — authentic pre-recorded household sounds add the audible cues of daily life indoors.

These are drawn from a library of **70+ hours of alternating, non-repeating simulations** stored locally on the device, so the presence looks and sounds varied and natural over time instead of an obvious loop. Because everything is stored and played on the device itself, Kevin continues to run even without an active internet connection or when Wi-Fi is being jammed.

## Everyday use

When you are home, Kevin is not idle: it works as a **Bluetooth speaker** and a **lamp**, so the device stays useful as part of daily life and not only while you are away.
